The work done today was a return to the status quo before encountering the Correspondence Series of the George L. Stuart, Jr. Collection. With the the series untangled and resorted, the last action to take was relabeling the folders. As such, Boxes 60 and 61 were on the priority list. However, there are more details that a brief overview would not cover.
The morning began with logging into a computer after entering the office and retrieving Box 60 from the collection. Though Box 59 had its folders relabeled, the brief time taken to untangle the messy web that was the Correspondence Series had put the relabeling process on hold for nearly a week. The process resumed as I relabeled folder after folder in Box 60.
Great importance has been emphasized regarding the chronological order of the folders. As such, I was baffled when discovering some folders not following the stated structure. How could have such an oversight escape the meticulous efforts I demonstrated later in the series? Though the solution was simple as moving the folders into where they should have been placed in first place, the fact this oversight happened is rather embarrassing.
Another obstacle that presented itself was the Microsoft Excel spreadsheet. Though the Correspondence Series’ organization has been solidified, the spreadsheet does not accurately reflect the changes made. In fact, the time will no doubt come where the lists in the spreadsheet will have to be edited entry by entry to assure the accuracy of the information. The experience is one that is not eagerly awaited. Luckily, the labels themselves are not difficult to remember.
Within the four hour time frame of my shift, Boxes 60 and 61 were completed and Box 62 was in process of having its folders relabeled. As stated before, the Senate Correspondences Subseries ends at Box 64. The idea of completing the subseries tomorrow is doubtful, but the idea of completing the subseries next week is more promising. Regardless, I left the office pleased with the work completed and a compliment from a thankful Mr. Ogreten.
In review, the folders in Boxes 60 and 61 have been successfully relabeled and Box 62 is in progress. The goal tomorrow is finish Box 62 and perhaps Box 63. However, finishing Box 64 is more likely going to occur next week. Until tomorrow, enjoy the rest of the evening and stay safe! Bye!
