It looks like I am making due on an emergency post with this one. I was waiting for an appointment with a professor when I received a text message from UCF stating: “Due to Hurricane Irma, all academic programs/classes are cancelled starting Thursday, September 7. Campus will be closed September 8-11. More info ufc.edu.” (https://today.ucf.edu/ucf-monitoring-hurricane-irma/). Well, there goes my make-up hours. However, I did go to the Library SCUA to speak with Mary Rubin.
Ms. Rubin and the rest of the staff were entering “DEFCON 1” in regards in preparation for Hurricane Irma. I was not scheduled to be there today, but I decided to help, anyways. To be fair, I was going to be helping prepare for the hurricane except it would have been on Friday. I helped move collection boxes that were on lower shelves to higher ground, placed tarps over the shelves on the first and fifth floors, and securing the carts from being loose. All this took time, mainly because having to deal with tarp sizes and moving things from top of the building to the bottom of the building as well as vice versa. Though all the work was not done, the main staff would be on campus tomorrow to finish up.
Around 4:30 PM, it was time to leave because I have work later tonight. I said my goodbyes and wished them a safe weekend. Likewise, I now wish the same for the readers of this blog. I do not know when the next time I will be able to resume intern duties but, if all is well next week, it will most likely be next Tuesday. I am going to make a review post tomorrow, but after that I will not post until I am able to continue my duties. To conclude, please make the proper preparations and be ready for Irma. Take care and I hope to be posting soon. Bye!
